The Northern Governor's Forum [NGF] has announced that it will convene an emergency meeting to proffer lasting solution to the security challenges facing the region.

In a statement made available to Channels Television in Minna by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, who also doubles as the chairman of the forum, the meeting has become imperative because of the raising insecurity in the region and the senseless tit for tat killings in Jos, the plateau state where twenty nine people have lost their lives in the last forty-eight hours.

Governor Aliyu who returned to the country after performing the Lesser Haji in Saudi Arabia said he is alarmed at the continuous killings in some part of the north especially the recent killing in Jos explaining that the situation cannot be allowed to continue.

In his words "I am horrified at the new wave of senseless killing in and around Jos, the plateau state capital which had left twenty-one people dead and several others injured, this development is condemnable ,irresponsible and therefore unacceptable".

Although no date has been fixed for the meeting, Dr Aliyu mentioned that he is already consulting with his colleagues with a view to convening the meeting in two weeks’ time.
