Mubi, the commercial nerve centre of Adamawa State, where bombs wreaked havoc on Christmas Day, yesterday witnessed another bout of attacks by armed robbers at a used clothes market, killing three traders.

Daily Sun investigation revealed that the armed robbers invaded the market shooting sporadically into the air to scare the traders. It was gathered that the robbers who succeeded in scaring the traders away killed three people, carting their proceeds away. Although as at the time of filing this report, the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Altine Daniel told Daily Sun that she was yet to gather sufficient information in respect of the incident but a police source in Mubi disclosed that the armed robbers invaded the market targeting some traders with the intention of stealing their money.

The sporadic shootings, the informant said, made some traders to take to their heels leaving their wares in the market. The traders who escaped from the market, according to the source, alerted other residents who ran helter skelter including commercial motorcyclists who rode away from their abodes in fear of being attacked by the robbers.

Residents of Maraba appealed to the government to beef up security in the town in view of the fact that it was the biggest town close to Maiduguri coupled with the constant flow of human traffic through the trunk “A’’ road from from Maiduguri and Yola Road.

The residents also observed that any attack on the town would paralyse socio-economic activities not only in the commercial nerve centre of of the state but also the entire state, hence the need for security operatives to swing to action to save lives and property.
