A commercial bike rider popularly ‘Okada’ has been killed by suspected kidnappers while trying to raise an alarm over the abducting of a businesswoman in Benin City.
The businesswoman who was identified as Mrs. Elizabeth Egharevba was abducted on Saturday along Sapele Road opposite Bob Izua filling station during burial service of her father.
Eyewitnesses said the bike rider who was yet to be identified was shot when he attempted to raise alarm about the abduction.
It was gathered that the victim went to buy some souvenir to give to guests that graced her father’s burial when the gunmen struck.
Family sources told the Nation that the kidnappers contacted husband of the victim, Mr. Sunday Egharevba on Saturday evening and demanded a ransom of N200m.
The source said the kidnappers called again on Sunday morning and reduced the ransom fee to N50m
