Desertion - Army Declares Major Wanted

The Directorate of Army Public Relations in Abuja on Thursday declared one Maj. Adebowale Bashorun wanted for desertion and other offences. A statement signed by Col. Usman Abdul, Chief of Staff in the Directorate, said Bashorun had evaded arrest and gone underground.

"The general public is hereby requested to kindly supply report any information on Bashorun's whereabouts to the nearest army unit or Nigeria Police.


"The army's position follows the recent ruling by a Lagos High Court, which maintained that the officer_deserter is still subject to military law.

"The army remains committed in effecting the arrest of the deserter_officer and any other that may fall within the same category," the statement said.

It would be recalled that Bashorun had gone to court in an attempt to stop his arrest for desertion.
