The Director General National Food Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Dr. Paul Orhii was attacked by gunmen on Saturday September, 18 2010.

He was attacked by gun men on his way from Benue state where he went to inspect a project and attend a burial ceremony.

In an interview with NAFDAC's spokesman, Mr Abubakar Jimoh, he said the incident occurred in Garaku, Nassarawa state. He stated that the Director General was not hurt in the incident and the gun men escaped.

This is not the first time those in leadership positions in NAFDAC have been attacked. In 2003, the former Director General the anti-fake agency, Professor Dora Akunyili narrowly lost her life to gunmen.

Three months ago, the NAFDAC's chief regulatory officer, Mr. Emeka Obi was killed in his home town in Imo state.
