The Nigerian Navy has concluded arrangements for a presidential fleet review to be conducted by President Goodluck Jonathan as part of activities marking the 50th anniversary celebration of Nigeria.

The chief of policy and plans of the Nigerian Navy, Rear Admiral Sylvester Umosen who announced this in Abuja, said foreign naval ships from France, Italy and her majesty's ship from the United Kingdom will be participating in the fleet review.

He said the parade of ships will not only showcase the navys capabilities but will also demonstrate the Nigerian navys co-operative engagement with other navies for capacity building to better safeguard the waterways.

Rear Admiral Umosen further said that the newly constructed joint maritime training centre designed to train personnel of the Nigerian Armed Forces in boat operations and maintenance, tactical maneuver, ground tactics and international humanitarian law will be handed over to the defense headquarters at navy town, Ojo, Lagos by the Duke of Gloucester.
