The police service commission, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by both the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the police service commission (establishment) act 2001 has considered the recommendations of the Acting Inspector-General of Police and approved the promotion of seven assistant Inspectors-General of Police to the rank of Deputy Inspectors-General of police.

A statement signed by the Chief Information Officer to the Minister of Police Service Commission, Mister Ferdinand Ekpe says the affected officers are Missus Ivy Okoronkwo, Azubuko Udah and Ganiyu Dawodu.

Others are Sardauna Abubakar, Audu Abubakar, Saleh Abubakar and Mohammed Yesufu.

The commission while congratulating the newly promoted officers enjoined them to discharge their duties to the best of their knowledge and to reposition the Nigeria Police Force to meet the challenges of policing a democratic society in the 21st century and beyond.

Chief Information Officer of the commission, Ferdinand Ekpe said the promotion took effect from Sept. 28.

Ekpe said the commission approved the promotion at its 7th plenary meeting on Tuesday following the recommendation by Mr Hafiz Ringim, the Acting Inspector General of Police.
