As the 2011 Election draws near, things are getting messier.

Security sources say that the Director General of the IBB campaign organisation, and Chairman of DAAR Communications, Chief Raymond Dokpesi has been arrested by security personnel and detained for interrogation following the October 1 bomb blast in Abuja.

The sources say the immediate cause of Dokpesi's arrest is a text message found in the phone of one of the arrested suspects.

The text read, "Have you collected the balance from Dokpesi?" The text message was said to have sent alarm signals across the security apparatus, since the suspect concerned is considered to be neck deep in the bombing plot.

A second and even more dramatic text message allegedly came into the phone of another suspect in custody that reads "let's meet at the IBB campaign office".

The message led to a rapid investigation process which has revealed a wider ring of suspects.

The source revealed that one of the suspects who wasn't privy to being under surveillance confided in a friend saying "na we do am, meet me make I brief you". The suspect is currently revealing more details to security agencies.

Part of the confession includes a statement by some members of the group planning to distabilize the government since Jonathan, according to them "was not ready to put serious money on the table".

Another suspect revealed that he has bought a brand new SUV from funds received form Dokpesi.

Meanwhile, the IBB campaign organisation has condemned the detention of its Director General, Chief Raymond Dokpesi.

In a statement by the deputy Director General of the organisation, Senator Mahmud Kanti Bello, the group explained that Chief Dokpesi honoured an invitation by the State Security Service [SSS] as a law abiding citizen.

"The Director General of the IBB 2011 Presidential Campaign Organization, High Chief Raymond Aleogho Dokpesi was invited Sunday, 3rd October, 2010 by the State Security Services [SSS] to report to their headquarters by 11am Monday, 4th October, 2010. As a law abiding citizen, he promptly complied and reported to the State Security Services headquarters by 10am this morning as directed.

"Between 11am and 5pm this evening Monday 4th October, 2010, all telephone calls placed to him were unanswered. The Campaign Organization dispatched a high powered delegation comprising four directors of the Campaign Organization and his personal Lawyer to enquire as to his whereabouts. The delegation was denied access to High Chief Dr. Raymond Dokpesi and had to return to the Campaign office at about 6.50pm. No reason has been given whatsoever by the State Security Services for his invitation, and detention, neither is his whereabouts known.

The organisation says his family is worried and deeply concerned for his safety, health and well being and insist his fundamental human rights as enshrined in the 1999 constitution are being violated.

"The IBB 2011 Campaign Organisation hereby condemns in the strongest terms the detention of its Director General and calls for his immediate release. We wish to draw the attention of local and international communities to the growing politics of intolerance, intimidation, coercion, persecution and harassment in spite of the avowed commitment to the rule of law by the present administration.

"We call on the security agencies of the country not to allow themselves to be used as tools to settle political scores particularly on simple intra-party contest."

The group also implores security agencies in the country not to allow them to be used as tools to settle political scores, particularly on simple intra-party contest.
