Two women and four children were confirmed dead after an early morning attack by suspected herdsmen on Rawahinku village in Bassa local government area of Plateau state.
Confirming the incident, media and public information officer for the military special task force (STF) on Jos crisis, Lt. Col. Kingsley Umoh says the manner of operation resembled similar attacks in Mazah and Dogo Nahawa villages.
Three others that are seriously injured according to the task force spokesman are receiving treatment in a clinic at the local government area and have been taken to Jos for further treatment.
Lt. Col. Umoh explained that the task force received a distress call in the early hours of Tuesday morning that the village was under attack by some herdsmen and it took the troop covering the area about an hour to locate the village due to the terrain and bad road network.
The latest attack is coming barely a week after two medical personnel were murdered in cold blood by unidentified killers while two people were also stabbed on their way home from a musical concert last Sunday.
