The Ogun state police command says it has recovered a sub-machine gun, one rocket launcher, ten launcher heads, 62 loaded AK 47 magazines, 3 AK 47 riffles, among other.
The state's Commissioner of Police, Musa Daura told journalists that the items were recovered from a foiled bank robbery in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State where two robbers lost their lives during an exchange of gun fire with the police.
He said strategies have been put in place to ensure safety of financial institutions in the state from incessant attacks by armed robbers
Meanwhile, the police patrol team attached to Onitsha area command in conjunction with the National Task Force on illegal importation of arms have seized a large consignment of 126, 931 live cartridges.
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Philemon Leha said the culprits were arrested on a tip off.
The chairman of the national task force on illegal importation, Chief Osita Okeke thanked the police for its assistance, explaining how the task force monitored the truck from Senegal to Cote D� Ivoire and to Nigeria where it was finally seized.
