The, immediate past chief medical director of the university of Benin teaching hospital Professor Eugene Okpere, has been abducted by gunmen.
Professor Okpere was kidnapped yesterday on his way to church outside his house.

Although, the kidnappers have made contact with the family, no ransom has been demanded.

To protest the kidnap, the Nigerian Medical Association in Edo State is embarking on an indefinite strike from today.

Chairman of the association, dr philip ugbodaga however said that in keeping with medical ethics and to respect elderstatesman, Mr. Anthony Enahoro who is receiving medical care at the UBTH,hospitals will attend to emergency cases and treat in patients but will not accept new cases.

The academic staff union of universities UNIBEN branch has also threatened to go on strike from Tuesday to protest the kidnap of Professor Okpere.
