The Special Task Forced in Jos (STF), "Operation Safe Haven," has arrested the five soldiers that were on duty at Riyom when the attack occurred at Wareng village in which 13 persons, mostly women and children, were killed.

STF spokesman, Capt. Charles Ekeocha, informed LEADERSHIP that the soldiers were arrested to ascertain what went wrong in their duty posts.

On the identity tag of the STF found at the scene of attack in Wareng, Captain Ekeocha said, "The name tag of an operative of STF, Operation Mesa, with number ST 296, was found at the scene while a First Bank documents with the name of Abdullahi Mohammed was also found at the scene of attack.

"We will not release the names of the soldiers for now until we have reason to do so."

The arrest of the soldiers followed outcries over the conduct of men of the STF. Indeed, the discovery of the identity card has given vent to allegations that soldiers were involved in the Waren killings.

Chairman of Riyom Local Government Area, Mr. Simon Mwadkom, who spoke to newsmen asked the STF to thoroughly investigate and unravel the identity of the soldiers involved in the dastardly act.
