THERE are strong indications that the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Uyo, in Akwa Ibom State, Professor Comfort Ekpo, may have gone into hiding, following threat calls by unknown persons suspected to be kidnappers.

The Nigerian Compass reliably gathered that she hurriedly left her office, yesterday afternoon, shortly after receiving anonymous calls which sources say were from suspected kidnappers who threatened to either kill or abduct her.

This came few hours after the members of the institution’s Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), staged a peaceful protest against the abduction of the Vice-Chancellor’s husband, Dr. Memfin D. Ekpo by unknown gunmen on Sunday.
