The Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday asked Nigerians to be security conscious in their daily affairs.
In a statement titled ‘Be security conscious at all times,’ and signed by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 7, Mr. Felix Ogbaudu, the Nigeria police called on Nigerians to show interest in matters that affected security and report same to their stations.
Some of the security tips offered by the Nigeria police in the statement included a call on drivers to monitor vehicles that follow them and are not in a hurry to overtake.
“When you slow down and the vehicle slows down; when you make a left turn or right turn, it follows you, be wary especially if more than one male occupant is in the vehicle,” the statement added.
It called on people to be more vigilant especially if more than one male occupant is in the vehicle.
It also advised such people to stop at the nearest police check point to allow the suspicious people pass before giving the police the particulars of a vehicle following them behind.
The statement added, “When approaching your house/residence and you find strange people hanging around your entrance, or Okada (motorcycle) riders with passenger sitting on it, parked in front of your house, observe the much you can see, drive past your house, inform the police before going back home.
“As much as possible, avoid night movements and if you must, have a companion.”
The also statement called on the people to develop the power of observation to the extent that when they see a vehicle, they would be able to recall its colour, registration number and description of occupants of such vehicle.
