    Default Far from it

In future, do you see the Niger Delta people going back to their traditional occupation that sustained them before the discovery of oil?
If you plead with any militant to drop his guns, that is a waste of time because no militant will lay down his guns. Every militant knows what the gun is for — the guns for them, represent implement to get food for themselves. If they give one gun, they will keep three for themselves. The militants are no fools.
It is because the boys have tasted real money, and in some cases, power. To tell them to drop their guns now will be impossible. The other thing is that since the discovery of oil, a lot of foreign people — people who are not indigenes of Niger Delta — have been involved in the illegal exploration of our oil.
To me the amnesty is a film trick and they are only embracing it as means of greater gain and power.

    Default A deeper outlook.

Beyond the jamborees and unneccessary publicities,The Federal government ought to take a proper look into the situation,in order to provide a solution.or else the next crisis will be bigger and more disastrous than this.
I hope Mr Umaru Musa (the presido will take note). It is not the showing in the T.V that matters but the ground work. This should not be used as an opprtunity to squander wealth but as means to a more peaceful Niger-Delta.
