GunMEN on Wednesday kidnapped a medical doctor at Ogidi in Idemili Local Government Area of Anambra State.
It was learnt a passer-by was killed by stray bullets.
The doctor, Osakwe Okwuosa, is the Medical Director of Ajufo Hospital, Ogidi.
Eyewitnesses said he was kidnapped in front of his hospital.
They said five suspects, who came in a Mitsubishi bus, confronted the doctor as he was about to disembark from his car by 8.am.
Sources said the suspects had earlier inquired about the location of the hospital.
According to the witnesses, the suspects waited outside the hospital premises for Okwuosa to arrive.
"Immediately Dr. Okwuosa pulled up in front of his office with his car and was about to come out, one of the kidnappers went, stopped him from coming out, shot into the air which attracted his men and they bundled him into their vehicle in spite of his spirited efforts to resist them", the sources said.
They said "in the process, a man said to be coming out from a restaurant was hit by their bullets and instantly, he died".
Okwuosa, according to sources, is a successful gynaecologist.
Commissioner of Police, Mr. Solomon Leha, confirmed the kidnap.
He said the police have begun investigation into the incident.
