Two Nigerian nationals were arrested for allegedly being in possession of five bags of cocaine with the street value of about R285 000 in Lennoxton Town near Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Sunday.
Superintendent Vincent Mdunge said the arrests took place on Sunday when police received information that there were drugs at a house in the area.
"Police entered the house and searched it... recovering a half-moon rock of cocaine. It was crushed into powder with a street value of about R45 000," said Mdunge.
While arresting the first man, they received information that another, a 40-year-old Nigerian man was escaping and was believed to be the first man's partner, Mdunge said.
"Police chased the second man, they caught him and found five bags of cocaine with a, estimated street value of R240 000," he said.
The two men were due to appear at the Newcastle Magistrate's court on Monday.
When will this rubish end.
