The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 11, Mr Seidu Daya, has said that to put an end to incessant bomb attacks by the Boko Haram sect, the Federal Government should provide adequate equipment and concentrate on more training for them.
Speaking with journalists after inauguration of chaplains at All Saints Police Church (Pentecostal), Zone 11, he said though the police had risen to the challenge by ensuring the bomb attacks did not spread to the entire Northern part of the country, the Federal Government still needed to do more to curtail the activities of the Boko Haram sect.
He explained that in order to ensure that the crisis did not extend to any of the three states of Ondo, Oyo and Osun states, which made up Zone 11, he had met with the state commissioners of police and told them what to do.
”We thank God there is no Boko Haram attack here. I have met with all my CPs; we held a meeting and I told them what to do, to hold stake-holders’ meetings within their areas, and I assured them that nothing was going to happen. We met and put heads together to ensure no negative things happen.
“The government should provide adequate security devices, sufficient funding and adequate training for the police are paramount. We should train our people and collaborate with other security agencies to ensure that this thing does not spread to another place.”
