Contrary to rumours making the rounds, Pa Anthony Enahoro who moved the motion for Nigeria's independence is still alive.

Sources from the family and the University of Teaching Hospital [UBTH] confirm however that Pa Enahoro is on admission at the UBTH and is in a stable condition.

However, a press statement made available to Channels Television and signed by Olawale Okunniyi, PRONACO Spokesperson and Chief Anthony Enahoro's Special Assistant on Public Affairs states that the Edo high Chief and the leader of the Nigerian progressives has been under close medical guidance for some time now due to weakness associated with old age.

Papa Enahoro's health is currently stabilising in Benin, Edo State Capital after an initial relapse occasioned by stress and old age.

Chief Enahoro, accompanied by his eldest son Ken, was rushed to University of Benin Teaching Hospital at about 1.30pm on Monday when his health conditions became critical, he was put under intensive care and close medical observations of his doctors at the UBTH.

That Chief Enahoro has since been certified by his physicians to have regained strength and now recuperating well.

Okuniyi said that Chief Anthony Enahoro is still very much alive.

He also revealed that further details and update on Enahoro�s condition will be given shortly by his eldest child, Ken.

The statement also expressed appreciation to well-wishers, associates and the general public as well as the international community for their sincere concern and prayers for Pa Enahoro.
