A 17-year-old star high school football player at Oviedo High School faces felony charges for allegedly attacking another student at school. The attack caused the victim to lose consciousness, police said.

Tyler Foto was charged with aggravated battery and is restricted to staying at home, officers said. He has been restricted from going to school. Prosecutors said the high school junior knocked out another student, who fell and became unconscious.

Oviedo police said Foto got into an argument with a student from a rival high school during a girls’ volleyball game. According to the police report, Foto grabbed the other student and threw him to the ground.

The report states the other student's “face collided with a raised concrete curb.... his body went limp and motionless.”

The judge said Foto won't be allowed to practice on the field with the rest of his team, he can't play football for Oviedo High School, and he has to go to a sheriff-run alternative school, but he is allowed to go home with his mother.

Foto's mother, Lori Holy-Cross, did not have to much to say when she walked out of a courtroom after the judge released her son.
“My son is generally a good child. He likes to protect his friends,” Lori Holy-Cross said.
Soto specifically asked the judge if he could still play football.
The judge said, “You don't understand. You don't play football.”
The Seminole County School District did not return WFTV's calls for comment.

Foto's attorney said his client will most likely receive disciplinary action or could be expelled.
