Default NFF Spends N1.2 Billion On World Cup Village in South Africa

Sincerely Africa is corrupt,Imagine this money that can build a whole country ,being used for world cup village,In as much as i am a football crazy, this is way out of orders.

South Africa's national team players training during a practice session in Teresopolis, Brazil, on Wednesday. South Africa's Bafana-Bafana is in Brazil for a month-long training camp as part of preparation for the upcoming 2010 World Cup.

About N1.2 billion ($8 million) of sponsors' fees has gone into the World Cup village being put together by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in Durban South Africa, Assistant General Secretary (marketing) of the federation, Idris Adama has disclosed.

The 3,054 room facility we learnt, would house the national football team the Super Eagles as well play host to other Nigerians dignitaries including members of government delegation, national assembly members as well as journalists that would be covering the World Cup.

Each of the rooms we gathered would cost residents sums ranging from $150 as against the high cost of securing accommodation in the former apartheid enclave.

Adama hinted that in addition to providing a secure home setting for the Nigeria delegation, the village would also be used to showcase Nigeria's vast and rich cultural heritage to other visitors to South Africa.

Already he said a number of Nigerian artists have been engaged to provide entertainment in the village every other night while the tournament lasts. Some of the artist he said include P-Square, D-Bang, Faze 2-Face among others.

You know it yourself, my friend, what becomes of the structure after the games. The houses will be "shared" among our leaders, paying only a peanut. God save Nigeria from selfish leaders!

Amen to that. But I believe you can still send a citizens bill to the National Assembly objecting to such action.

Citizen's Bill to National Assembly when members are potential beneficiaries of the houses? That would have been ideal under a true democracy. You seem not to realize that we are in a situation of the cat judging over the mouse. We are only operating civil rule, not democracy. The only option open to us now is to wait and "work hard" towards 2011, so that our true leaders would emerge. Amen!

I realize all the sharp edges attendant to such an undertaking. I am glad also that you brought in the one word that is key to all- OPTION. No wise man discards all his options. AND I certify that you are one.
Besides, sending in a citizen's bill is part of 'wait and work hard..' Without pricing things, you will never know how cheap or expensive goods are. Whatmore, we are not door mats ourselves. We can raise as much dust as the next horse.

I very well today remember COJA,Billions went down the drain.Yet Nigeria has no lasting gain from that Financial erosion called sport event.
