The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed on Saturday in Cairo City, Egypt, that the African Nations Cup (CAN) tournament will be held in odd years as from 2013.

According to the conclusions of the Executive Committee, which met on Saturday in Cairo City, Egypt, under the presidency of its chairman, Issa Hayatou, CAF also decided to lift the suspension of Togo national team for having abandoned CAN2010 disputed last January in Angola.

This means two editions of the African nations football cup being staged within a year as Gabon and Equatorial Guinea co-host it in 2012 followed by Libya 12 months later.

According to CAF’s website, the report on the last inspection of CAF to Gabon and Equatorial Guinea in March in 2010 was also analysed and this African football institution says that it is committed to the respective local organising committees on following up progresses.

The Libyan football association accepted to host both African Cup of Nations (CAN) and Home-based African tournament (CHAN) in 2013 and 2014, respectively.

The next meeting of the Executive Committee is set for 23 February 2011 in Khartoum, Sudan.
