Coach Anthony Edusei and the Ghana FA are doing everything within their might to boost the Black Queens of Ghana so as to come home with the prestigious AWC trophy going by the fact that they have been on the losing side.
�Ghanaian coach has recalled experienced players to the squad including ex captain Adjoa Bayor as well as charismatic goalkeeper Memuna Sulemanaas part of the efforts.
Ghana will be seeking their first continental title when the Africa Women Championship opens in South Africa this weekend.
The Black Queens make their seventh appearance in Africa�s flagship women�s competition chasing the elusive title which has been dominated by Nigeria.
Ghana has played in all but three of the last six final of the eight-team tournament but has not been able to lift the title so far.
To reverse that, the Ghana FA sent the team to prepare in Germany where they beat two second division sides before heading for the tournament in South Africa.
The Black Queens, three-time losing finalist in the Championship's 12-year history, failed to live up their billing two years ago when they exited the at the group stage in Equatorial Guinea.
But Edusei insists the good balance of experienced and young players should make them break the hoodoo in this tournament.
In our last tournament, we didn't perform well so this is our chance to lift the trophy for the first time.
Most players now have the exposure so I think with this preparation, we can lift the trophy.
The tournament in South Africa takes place from 31 October to 14 November, with the champions and runners-
