After winning three titles last year, Nigeria born King Davidson Emenogu is confident about his upcoming February bout with Yuki Noki of Japan for Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) junior middleweight title. It could be recalled that King Davidson Emenogu has been granted permanent residency some time ago.
The former Nigerian amateur boxer said Noki is the only obstacle between him and the World Boxing Council (WBC) title, and that he doesn't see the Japanese jeopardising his dream.
Davidson won a Gold medal at the Abuja All African Games in 2003, and a bronze medal at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games in 2006, before turning professional June 2007 in Australia.
He overcame an 11-month injury in 2008 and went on to win eight straight fights and three titles in 2009. The titles are; International Boxing Federation (IBF) Pan Pacific Youth light middleweight title (March), Australian light middleweight title (June), and a WBO Africa light middleweight title in October.
"My ambition has always been to get to the pinnacle of professional boxing. This bout (in Japan) is a stepping stone to greater things and I am confident I will come out tops," Davidson said of his fight with Noki.
In assuring himself of victory, the Imo State born boxer, is not unaware of what his opponent might have in stock for him when they both go for the jugular on February 20.
"At this stage in my career, I've learnt enough so as never to underrate any opponent. I have always put the almighty God first in everything I do, then I work seriously hard to achieve that. I believe with these two great combinations, I will triumph against any opponent."
Since turning professional in 2007, Davidson has had 11 fights. He won them all, with six knockouts.
