Kogi state governor Ibrahim Idris has presented the 2012 budget proposal to the state house of assembly.
One hundred and fourteen point three billion naira is to be spent for the fiscal year.
The governor tagged the budget “a budget of legacy. It is twenty eight point nine percent higher than that of 2011.
The breakdown shows recurrent expenditure is sixty one point nine billion naira while capital expenditure is fifty two point three billion naira.
The governor says the recurrent expenditure is higher than the current year budget.
This, he says, is because of the implementation of the new minimum wage.
The governor also says the state will partner with the private sector to start up a viable industry. This is to assist the developing small medium enterprise ventures.
Speaker of the state house of assembly, Abdullahi bello promised that the budget proposal would be studied and passed without unnecessary delays.
