A new dress code for female teachers of secondary schools has been introduced by Zamfara State Government to sanitize the teaching profession in the state. The state Commissioner for Education, Alhaji Ibrahim Danmaliki Gidan Goga, who disclosed this while addressing academic staff of Government Day Secondary School, Damba, as part of his inspection visits to secondary schools, said government was disturbed at the upsurge of indecent dressing among female teachers in public schools.
According to the commissioner, under the new code, female teachers must dress well in accordance with their religious and cultural practice, to ensure that no female teacher continued to be half nude while in school.
He, therefore, directed all principals of public institutions to ensure absolute
compliance with the new dress code, saying principals should report any erring teacher who refused to comply with the new development.
“I want also to tell our female teachers that henceforth no female teacher is permitted to come into school half nude. I am sure no one teaches such dress code particularly in an academic environment of this group of children who are leaders of tomorrow,”said Maigandi.
The commissioner said, “female teachers, particularly of girls institutions, are role models to their students. When our students are looking at your kind of dressing they will love to copy such dressing whether decent or indecent. We have already directed all principals of public schools, across the state, to introduce a dress code for our female teachers and female corps members in their schools.”
This is a nice development.
