Hi All,I am new to this sort of thing,I am due to go to Lagos soon and my company has won a construction contract there.I am a quantity surveyor and and cannot find any sense on how labor is costed there,i.e, after reading the post "Construction company workers or slave company workers" I am totally confused.Do you have a different rate for say a general operative,a carpenter,electrican,engineer,etc.it seems its all about screwing the workers just for the sake of having a job to put food on the table and the companies pay what they want and the worker has no rights?. Did the Government there not introduce a minimum wage for the private sector? will there be a revolution?I have joined from Ireland in Europe and these things are the norm.Please can someone tell me what the normal pay rates are for the different skills employed on say a simple housing project in Lagos,thanking you in advance.God Bless.
