Newly-sworn in chairmen of care-taker committees of local government councils in Ogun State have been told to demonstrate transparency, integrity and make the people the focal point of their administration.
Ogun State governor, Chief Gbenga Daniel, stated this during the swearing-in of the newly-appointed caretaker chairmen for the 20 local government councils at the Executive Council Chambers, Abeokuta, on Friday.
He described them as men of integrity who were chosen after careful consideration and who have what it takes to pilot the affairs of the local governments and add value to good governance during their tenure. He thanked the Ogun State House of Assembly which facilitated the confirmation of the appointments of the new local government helmsmen.
He said the appointment was made following the advice of the state’s Independent Electoral Commission that the old voter register should not be used for the local government polls and suggested it was better to wait for the completion of the new voter register.
