The face-off between the Ogun State Police Command and the Majority Leader, Ogun State House of Assembly, Adeyinka Mafe, worsened on Sunday as the lawmaker said he had 50 petitions against the Divisional Police Officer, Sagamu Division, John Mark.

Trouble started last week when the lawmaker had raised a matter of public importance on the floor of the state House of Assembly concerning Mark, accusing the DPO of collecting bribes and money to release suspects on bail in Sagamu.

The Speaker, Suraj Adekunbi, had called on the state Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali, to investigate the allegations against the DPO.
But the command, through the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said Mark was the best among the DPOs in the state.

Adejobi, who said the DPO was sent to Sagamu to rid it of “evils and sponsors of evil”, added on Thursday that the command was investigating 15 criminal cases involving the lawmaker, which bordered on sponsorship of cults and other criminal activities.
