Airtel Nigeria and Nokia have teamed up to offer the Nokia dual SIM X1-01 bundled with Airtel SIM cards for the Nigerian market. Customers who purchase the Nokia X1-01 handset will get NGN 250 bonus airtime for every NGN 400 cumulative airtime recharge monthly for six months. They will also get as many as 20 free SMS messages monthly for life so long as they recharge with a minimum of NGN 100 every month. The COO of Airtel Nigeria, Deepak Srivastava, said the bonus airtime can be acquired by recharging either via physical scratch cards or electronically through the Easy recharge service. The bonus airtime will be allocated within 48 hours once customers reach the NGN 400 recharge threshold. Srivastava said the bundled Airtel SIMs use the Airtel Big Family tariff, which carries a call rate of NGN 0.15 per second to Airtel lines and NGN 0.30 per second when calling other networks after the first minute of the day at NGN 0.60 per second. Additionally, customers will have the benefit of making calls at NGN 0.20 per second to the US, UK (landline), China, Canada and India after the first call of the day to any of these international destinations at NGN 0.60 per second.
