Answer: The Airtel Mobile Internet is a service that gives you full and uninterrupted internet access on your desktop or Laptop (either at home, office or while on the move).
2. Question: What constitute the Airtel Mobile Internet (ZMI) service?
Answer: The Airtel Mobile Internet Service is powered by a Data card/USB Modem. Airtel provisioned data SIM card with Airtel Mobile Internet subscription. Customers can also use their data enabled mobile handsets or smart phones to access the ZMI service.
3. Question: Do I need to get a special SIM card to use this service?
Answer: Yes, data provisioned SIM cars will be sold with the data cards. However, you can get your SIM card provisioned for data on request.
4. Question: Can I access the internet on my laptop/desktop anywhere in Nigeria?
Answer: Yes, internet access is available everywhere in Nigeria.
5. Question: How can I get the device?
Answer: The Data card/USB Modem is available at all Airtel Shops in Nigeria.
6. Question: Can I access the internet on my handset or smart phone anywhere in Nigeria?
Answer: Yes, internet access is available ‘on the go’ on your handsets anywhere in Nigeria as long as it is a data capable handset
7. Question: How do I activate internet settings on my handset or smart phone?
Answer: You can configure your handset for internet through the following channels:
1. Send SMS internet space phone brand space phone model to 232 example internet Nokia 8820 to 232
2. Go to the website dmc.ng.Airtel.com to activate it.
3. Call Toll Free number “111” for assistance
4. Visit any Airtel shop for manual configuration
8. Question: Will I have to pay for subscription after purchasing the modem or data card?
Answer: Yes, you will have to choose any of ZMI bundle service plans after purchasing the modem or data card. The default service plan is the pay As You Use (PAYU) tariff which cost 15K per Kilobyte.
9. Question: What is the validity period of ZMI?
Answer: ZMI Bundle service plans have their respective validity period. To migrate from one bundle plan to the other, you have to exhaust your currently bundle plan.
10. Question: Can I pay for multiple-months subscription on the ZMI service?
Answer: Yes, ZMI offers multiple months subscription. The multiple-months subscription offers discount up to 20% for up to 12 months prepayment. Details of ZMI multiple-months subscription is as follows:
11. Question: How can I subscribe to the multiple-months subscription on the ZMI service?
Answer: You can subscribe for the service at any of Airtel’s shops nationwide.
12. Question: Will I be cut-off when I exhaust the MB of data I subscribed for?
Answer: You will be migrated and charged on the Pay As You Use platform at 15kobo per kilobyte. You will also have the option of recharging via a USSD string (which will be provided) on the device Menu option.
13. Question: Can I make and receive calls and send SMS on my laptop/desktop?
Answer: No. You will not be able to make and receive calls. However, you can send and receive SMS.
14. Question: Does the monthly subscription for this service include charges for SMS?
Answer: No. The monthly subscription is for data only. You will be charged separately for using the data card or modem for SMS according to the tariffs on your package (i.e. Post-paid, Simply special, Tru Talk e.t.c).
15. Question: Is this service available to both Post-Paid and prepaid customers?
Answer: Yes, Airtel Mobile Internet is available as a prepaid service to all Airtel customers.
16. Question: Will the service be available to only existing Airtel customers?
Answer: No. The Airtel mobile Internet will be available to anyone who requires access to uninterrupted high speed internet service anywhere.
17. Question: Can I get assistance if I encounter any challenges using the device?
Answer: Yes. You can contact Airtel trained data services consultants to provide assistance through three different channels:
1. Call Toll FREE number “111” from any prepaid Airtel SIM card
2. All Airtel shops nationwide
