Airtel Nigeria has said that it will add over 2000 kilometres of fibre optic cable on its network to further improve on the quality of service.
Speaking recently at a media roundtable in Lagos, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Airtel Nigeria, Rajan Swaroop, disclosed that the company has doubled its network capacity since taking over and is poised to improve on that in the bid to continue rendering bespoke telecommunications services in Nigeria.
"In this first phase, we will be adding over 2000 kilometres of fibre optic cable to our network", he said.
He said that the investment and diligence being put into transforming Airtel into the most loved brand in the daily lives of Nigerians are already bearing fruits. He made an example of the recent rating by telecommunications regulator, the Nigerian Communications Commission, where Airtel was rated the best network in Nigeria in the first quarter of 2012.
"Our efforts are paying dividends. The Nigerian Communications Commission rated us the best in March and April of 2012 when they rated networks in Nigeria," he said.
