MTN Nigeria, the country’s largest mobile-phone operator, plans to spend $1 billion on expanding its network this year, ThisDay reported, citing corporate executive Wale Goodluck.

The unit of South Africa’s MTN Group Ltd. (MTN) will spend the money on increasing its fiber optic capacity, acquiring base stations and improving service quality.
