The recently concluded Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is the mobile industry's "must attend" event with more than 49,000 visitors in 2010.

An integral part of Congress, the conference agenda featured speakers representing the leaders of the world's most innovative companies, both from within the mobile industry and from the growing number of adjacent market sectors joining the expanding mobile ecosystem.

In 2011, the conference agenda showcased dynamic speakers from a broad range of companies, and featured in-depth sessions covering the industry's key growth areas, according to a statement.

A3&O Ltd was the only company from Nigeria to showcase their offerings at their own booth in the MWC. With offices in the UK, Ghana, South Africa and Nigeria, A3&O showcased its extensive products, experience and services portfolio.

These include partners such as Barco, Tekelec, Pyro, Intracom and Veraz and ongoing projects in Africa, Europe and the Middle East. The other Nigerian representation was Airtel and MTN with large delegations.

It is disappointing to see that Nigeria with the largest number of telephone subscribers in Africa, could only boast of one company, A3&O Ltd as the only professional company in the Telecommunication support industry to showcase talents and services at such a major event.

Some of the speakers at MWC included Randall Stephenson Chairman, CEO & President AT&T, Wang Jianzhou Chairman China Mobile, John Chambers Chairman & CEO Cisco, Hans Vestberg President & CEO Ericsson, Eric Schmidt Chairman & CEO Google, Peter Chou CEO HTC, Paul Otellini President & CEO Intel, and Steve Ballmer CEO Microsoft,

Others include Stephen Elop, President & CEO Nokia, Ryuji Yamada President & CEO Qualcomm, Jim Balsillie Co-CEO RIM, Masayoshi Son Chairman & CEO SoftBank, Jack Dorsey CEO Square, César Alierta Executive Chairman & CEO Telefónica, Dick Costolo CEO Twitter, Vittorio Colao Chief Executive Vodafone, Sir Martin Sorrel Chief Executive WPP, Carol Bartz CEO Yahoo!

According to the organisers, the GSM Association (GSMA) had a good record of visitors that attended this year's Mobile World Congress. More than 60,000 visitors from 200 countries attended, including more than 3,000 CEOs.
