Sony India Managing Director Kenichiro Hibi is in Chandigarh for three days to understand the festive mood. This is Mr Hibi's second visit to Chandigarh region in past six months. With region having high disposable income, Chandigarh and Punjab are becoming an attractive destination for brands across the spectrum.
In an exclusive interaction with The Economic Times, Mr Hibi shared his company plans and reasons that makes Punjab a lucrative market for Sony India. Company is targeting a 20 percent year of year growth and is bullish in Punjab.
"Punjab is an important market for Sony India and it is crucial for us to understand the true potential of this region. I am here in Chandigarh for a three day visit to understand the festive mood. This is my second visit in past six months," Mr Kenichiro Hibi told ET.
Talking about the marketing strategy, during the festive months, Mr Hibi said, "To support our business plan, we have allocated huge investment towards multi-media brand campaign for our TV segment. Our BRAVIA TV commercial is currently on-air and widely visible, especially in print and electronic media,"Sony India Managing Director said.
"Sony is a premium brand player in the country and we will continue to launch products that enhance the customer’s lifestyle. We have been committed to India market since a long time and have been operating in the country for more than 22 years."
Sony came to India in November, 1994. Sony Corp. is celebrating its seventieth anniversary this year in 2016.
Company has been widening its product portfolio in all its product categories like BRAVIA TV, Xperia Smartphones, Alpha cameras, Professional Business solutions, memory cards, car audio etc.
