Effective from 6 September 2010 Aero will charge N100 (One Hundred Naira Only) NAMA tax on all ticket sales.
This is as a result of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) mandate for airlines to comply with the Pay-As-You-Go system. This is a new mode of payment for terminal navigational charges.
On Wednesday, 1 September 2010, NAMA withdrew its services from Aero for two hours for refusing to comply with the Pay-As-You-Go causing passengers to be stranded at airports across the country.
Reacting to the development, Aero Head of Commercial, Rob Prophet said;’’ We are greatly saddened by the situation and the approach of NAMA but Aero is not in a position to take up another incremental government charge. We empathise with Nigerian passengers’’.
Rob noted that the Pay-As-You-Go policy is totally unmerited and hopes that NAMA would review these charges in the future.
Aero remain the fastest growing regional airline in the industry and will continue to offer fares to satisfy all the key segments of the Nigerian market.
