Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the Basic Studies Programme of the University of Port Harcourt for the 2010/2011 Academic Session. Some other schools will term this same programme as pre-degree programmes. It's just the same thing.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should possess WASC/SSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB Ordinary Level with credit passes in at least Five Relevant Subjects and minimum JAMB score for the area of study.

COURSE DURATION
The programme is for a period of one year (one academic session)
CLOSING DATE
The closing date for application is January 7th, 2011, and the website closes at 12.00 midnight.
SCREENING EXERCISE
A screening test shall be conducted on January 15th, 2011.
Venue: University of Port Harcourt All applicants are expected to participate. Candidates Exam No, Seat No, and Exam Hall shall be provided online. Result of the screening test and admission list shall be posted on the internet (www.uniport.edu.ng) two weeks after the exercise.
Materials Needed for the Basic Screening Exercise
Candidates are required to come with the following:
- A clear copy of Photocard printed online
- HB pencil, eraser and a non-programmable calculator
NOTE:
- The NAMES on Candidates O'Level Certificate and JAMB results must be SAME with what is filled online;
- Mobile phones, walkman, ipod and similar gadgets will not be allowed into the screening venue;
- Candidates are strongly advised to identify their screening venue prior to the screening date as lateness shall not be tolerated;
- Candidates must apply within the designated period as the site shall be disabled at midnight on January 7th, 2011;
- Candidates must report at the Exam Hall Venue by 8.00 am prompt
ACCEPTANCE FEE
Candidates offered admission shall be required to pay a non-refundable Acceptance Fee of ten thousand (N10,000) only. This enables students to secure admission and entitle them to all text books and other materials for the programme.
REGISTRATION
Registration will commence on February 7th, 2011 while lectures will start on February 14th, 2011.
