The Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation on Thursday said it had donated N250m to 25 universities and polytechnics across the country as part of its social responsibility crusade, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

The NDIC Managing Director, Alhaji Umaru Ibrahim, said this in Damaturu while inaugurating a N20m computer centre constructed and donated to the Yobe State University by the corporation.

Ibrahim said that the N250m was given between 2003 and 2010.

He explained that the corporation was involved in the implementation of various educational schemes as part of measures to boost manpower and improve social services to communities.

“We have disbursed N250m to 25 universities and polytechnics under the first and second phase of the project to promote learning environment in institutions,” Ibrahim said.

According to him, Yobe State University is benefitting from its intervention under the third phase of the scheme.

“We have increased the amount from N10m to N20m and 12 universities and polytechnics will receive N20m each under the third phase,” he added.
