Federal University, Gashua, Yobe State Set To Open
Senator Ahmad Ibrahim Lawan (ANPP, Yobe North) has appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan on the need to commence academic session at the proposed Federal University, Gashua, Yobe State at the beginning of next academic session.
Briefing newsmen on the Federal University, Gashua, Yobe State, recently approved by President Jonathan for Yobe State, Lawan urged the Federal Government to ensure the take-off of the institution along with nine other new universities approved by government.
The senator expressed support for President Jonathan on the establishment of the new universities saying, “I will continue to identify, partner and cooperate with the transformational efforts of the present administration of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan so that many more pro-people projects are delivered to our people.”
Lawan said the increase in number of universities in the country will further expand the opportunities to access higher education which is needed for rapid development of the country.
He said the new Federal University, Gashua, Yobe State, has the potential to achieve more enrolment from the state indigenes, who are qualified candidates for university admission, but sometime fail to take the opportunity, due to dire financial situations.
