Seven people were killed and one wounded on Wednesday morning in an armed attack against a Turkish Statistic Institute office in northeast Turkey, local NTV news channel reported.

Veysi Erin, an employee of the Statistic Institute in the city of Kars, reportedly killed the institute manager and five others.

The attack was not a terror incident, Kars Governor Eyup Tepe was quoted as saying, adding that Veysi Erin had a psychology- related job at the institute.

The assailant reportedly killed himself after the attack.
