The leave is to allow the former governor of Ekiti State seek the nomination of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) to stand as a candidate in the July 14 governorship poll.

According to a statement on Monday signed by Fayemiís media aide, Mr. Olayinka Oyebode, the one-month leave had commenced on April 9.

Oyebode noted that the clarification became necessary to educate certain individuals calling for Fayemiís disqualification over his non-resignation as minister before joining the governorship race.
