MORE than 1,000 applicants seeking admission into Nigeria’s premier Ivory Tower, the University of Ibadan (UI), Ibadan, Oyo state have been denied enrolment.

The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof Isaac Adewole, who made the disclosure yesterday, said a total of 1,012 of the 4,704 candidates invited for interactive session presented either fake or doubtful results.

Adewole said that those with questionable documents were subsequently dropped from the admission list after the interactive session conducted by the university.

Explaining the rationale for denying them admissions, Adewole listed poor performance after interactive session, wrong subject combination in either the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) or the Senior Secondary School Certificate/National Examination Council (SSSCE/NECO), and submission of fake or doubtful results.
